Certified Surgical Technologists

Posted by meesha73 on Jan 14, 2012 10:03 am

Hi all I am new to the site and I would like to hear from CST's. I have only seen one on here so far. Can any one give me tips advice related to travel jobs for CST's. I may be looking to start doing this in about 6 months. I am currently working at an Outpatient Surgery Center, but I have also worked at a University Hospital. I have experience in OMFS (Oral Maxillofacial Surgery), Plastics, SON (Surgical Oncology), GYN, ENT, General Surgery. I have also done some Neuro such as Transphenoidal, Lumbar Lami's, disectomies, nerve stimulator placements. I have also done some sports med such as Knee Scopes, shoulder scopes, hand surgery and foot and ankle surgeries. Looking for a reputable agency to go through. Looking to make much more than my current $19.36/hr pay. I have questions about housing stipend and the possiblity of taking my spouse and my dog. Any information would be welcomed.

Thank you,

Michelle Johnson CST

Hey Meesha,

First of all, welcome to the community!

I know that Clinical One places Surgical Techs in travel positions and they are a reputable company.  I have personally met the CEO and severalof their recruiters who are outstanding.  I think that they would be happy to answer any questions you have about jobs and what to expect for pay.

I also noticed that they have a few jobs posted on this site for surgical techs.  You can take a look at them here: http://www.healthcaretravelbook.com/forums/viewtopic/3/1108?post_id=2612#p2612

Also, as a traveler, there is no reason why you could not take your dog and spouse!  My husband and I travel with our 3 dogs so if we can make it work, I know you can!

I hope this helps.
