submitting for jobs

Posted by jkluc on Dec 6, 2011 8:41 am

I am working with 2 different recruiters very recently. I understand that you do not want both recruiters to submit you for the same job because it looks bad tothe company who is hiring. Is this true? If so, how do you compare the 2 recruiting companies or compare their packages if they will be submitting you for different areas (even though in the same state)?

Yes, it is true!!  Hiring companies do not like the hassle of 2 staff companies bothering them with details!!

Near the end of each travel assignment, I am flooded with recruiter calls, & I have found (to date) that no company can seem to keep me as busy as I want to be, but I am very picky.

I tend to work with 4-6 each time, but I am very clear that I am working with other companies & my #1 rule is no submittal without my verbal authorization!!!

Any company that breaks that rule doesn't get a second chance.  To date, that would include Ardor & Club.
The assignment I am on right now started with a snafu because the recruiter did not understand this rule; she subbed me without asking 1st, & I had already been subbed by another company.  She argued with me, which I think is a career killer when working with therapists, but I went with the company that subbed me initially.  It worked out in the end, as I got a better rate & so far the company seems great.  Jeremy with Core Medical has been trying to get me on board for years & now he has & they are behaving like an awesome company!!
You need to do what you are comfortable with 1st!  Even though all companies receive the same listings, some recruiters have special relationships with companies & facilities.
Good luck.  I highly recommend Jeremy Grimaldi with Core;  he has been upfront & honest with me about all things travel for years & we just started actually working together a month ago.  He is a member of this site.

Thanks for the recommendation Tim.  I would recommend you to other recruiters but that would be counterproductive, lol.

But, yes, it is true that being double submitted would look bad for you.  Some companies may not care but why take the chance.  Every recruiter knows what the pay package is before they even call you about the job.  Don’t hesitate to get all of the info you need before allowing the staffing agency to submit you.  Generally your pay package is determined by the recruiter and pay can vary based on that.  By the time you get an interview you should know everything about benefits, time off, reimbursements and how much you should be taking home.  Make sure you have all of this info before you interview.

The only time you would have a recruiter submitting you to a position without telling you is when you already have a working relationship and have given permission to do so.
