Automated "Cold Calls"

Posted by MedicRN on May 26, 2011 9:31 pm

I have received 2 automated "we have assignments available" calls from 2 separate agencies in 2 days.  When did this practice start?  Personally, I find it a little more than irritating.  I would much rather speak to the recruiter personally then to hear about some job(s) I'm not interested in, but have no input other then to hang up.

/steps of soapbox

Sorry for the rant.

I am on the soapbox with you.  I have received those automated calls for years and they are very annoying.  I can't imagine that they are very effective for companies....in fact, they make me want to intentionally avoid those companies for being too invasive.  Wish that i could automatically call them back for the next 9 days in a row!

Good to hear your feedback on that. We don't do that either for just those reasons!  There was a time where it was considered but they quickly changed their minds.  It's great to hear your thoughts.

Hello!

Thanks for this feedback regarding this.  It's great to know that putting emphasis on being able to speak to someone live whenever possible is preferred/appreciated.

It's part of our administration policy to always get a live person when someone calls if at all possible.  I always hoped it was a service that our clients and candidates preferred and based off of this info, it sounds like it is.

Wes, I heard on the news last year about someone who nearly did just that.  Their child's school set up a similar automated system that accidentally would call at 2am.  After not receiving any sort of apology In response, he somehow set up a system that would call the school administrators at 2am with a recorded message.  Pretty amusing really.

Thanks again Roxan!
