You can now instantly watch movies on iTunes. Is Netlfix obsolete? I can do the same on either one, so why have 2 different accounts? Help!!!! http://itunes.com or http://netflix.com ????
What?? I had no idea. I have been a Netflix subscriber for years, can’t imagine leaving them but I’m also a huge fan of iTunes. Do you have to buy apple tv to stream movies?
No, you do not have to buy an apple tv to stream movies, you can rent or purchase directly through any device that you have itunes on.
For the other question, you can stream onto your tv with itunes on your computer. It may require the purchase of an HDMI cable, or other cable to plug in to your tv from your computer or the purchase of AppleTV.
If you have a newer tv that is wireless, it appears the answer may be no streaming directly to the tv through wireless. Apple tv looks like the best "no hassle" answer if you want to stream/play videos etc. wirelessly.
My opinion right now, is that Netflix isn't obsolete. They may be getting there as I heard they were losing the rights to stream Starz movies (that was from a couple of months ago.) If you use Netflix by DVD, they have a much broader selection. Their onine offering doesn't seem to be very broad, as when you pay $8 a month for unlimited streaming, you don't have a huge offering of new stuff.
I hope that answers these questions, at least in general.
There are so many movies on netflix I have never seen, foriegn, indies, I will never have time to see them all.....well worth my $8. I rarely watch regular tv. I am wireless through the wii.
I personally go with the full package on Netflix because their streaming doesn't always have the newest movies but I don't really have time to watch everything I want to either. I stream through my blue ray player or Xbox depending on which room I am in when wanting to watch a movie. Haven't looked too much into iTunes but Netflix has everything I want to watch when I want to. Although they are starting to get pricey so that might be a consideration of possibly canceling them. Unlike iTunes you can rent the same movie over and over again without being charged which some of my favorite movies I do like seeing it as a repeat. Or like inception you have to see it a couple of times to actually understand it.
Netflix is documentary heaven so I won’t be letting that go anytime soon. I think Hulu prime is pretty good as well. I have a TiVo box so I get Amazon, Netflix and Hulu for back up in case there’s nothing good on TV which is usually always.
As a Mac & iPhone user I, of course, have iTunes but I also subscribe to netflix (online service only). Recently I bought a "Roku" and LOVE it! It lets me watch all of my netflix, hulu, amazon, and crackle movies on my TV instead of staring at a computer screen only. It is small, easily packable, user-friendly, and can pretty much be set up without even looking at directions.
