computer?

Posted by jkluc on Dec 6, 2011 8:36 am

I typically only use my computer for the internet, facebook, online billing, and occassional word documents. Is only having a phone with internent sufficient or would it be recommended to bring your desktop with a printer? I figured if I needed to type any papers or print something out I could go to a library, but not sure how close one will be to where I live. I have a small car so not a lot of room to pack items, but I didn't know if the desktop computer should definitely be one of the things I bring.
Thanks

I find that my smart phone and netbook are enough for my communication needs.  I travel with a printer, a regular sized laser printer.  I have a portable scanner, copy cat, and am also able to scan off the smart phone.   I typically get cable for internet, maybe tv if there is a good price.  I bring my Wii and i then stream movies from netflix on a cheap  tv I buy at a thrift store.  And shopping at thrifts gives me a good look at the city and I learn my way around.

I do suggest investing in a netbook if you don't already have one or laptop.  I only say this because some locations may be very rural and you are relying on public access such as libraries. Having a portable computer such as a netbook allows you to keep your resume at hand and updated, access online orientations or timecards (different assignments and/or companies that may require it), and simply having access online.

By the way, dianomal, I'm truly impressed.  You are a one person media center!

I am also impressed with Dianomal.  I am always a few years behind the trends...with life, music, AND technology.  Dianomal should write a blog called "Tech for the Road"!
