Hi everyone! I'm an SLP starting my first travel contract next week. I decided to find my own housing, which I found a great place I love, but it's been a headache setting up. My question is, if I continue to set up my own housing, will the credit checks occurring every 3 months from rental applications ruin my credit rating? Has anyone's credit rating decreased due to traveling? Thanks!!
I’m almost 100% sure that it’s a different kind of credit check and shouldn’t do anything to your credit. It’s not the same as applying for a credit card.
I spoke with a friend of mine last night who runs a mortgage company. He said that it can affect you credit but it’s inconsequential. There are two different kinds of credit checks so I would check with whom ever you’re renting from to let you know what kind of credit check they’re running. But, according to my friend it should not make a big difference.
Tink: Whenever there is a credit check you are offered a copy. If you have concerns I recommend you investigate it by contacting the credit bureau, whichever one conducts the check. Never assume anything, get it in writing and dont bet on second hand information.
