Boxers in southern California

Posted by Lindsey21 on Dec 13, 2011 8:06 pm

I'm planning on going to the San Diego/ LA area in the beginning of February.  I've caught word that it may be difficult to find housing that allows my 2 boxers.  Myles is 75 lbs and Maci is 45 lbs.  Both very friendly.  Also I'm not sure of how strict the laws are out there with large dogs.  Anybody have any information related to this?  I do not want to stay at an extended stay hotel.  I've done that previously and really didn't like it.  Thanks for all your help!

Hi Lindsey,

Pets in San Diego/LA can be very tough. In the San Diego area,  i've had better luck in  La Mesa  (just outside San Diego).  I know the Reserve on Baltimore in La Mesa doesn't have a weight limit and they allow 2 pets per unit.  Also Pravada apartments in La Mesa  allows up to 2 pets with no weight restriction. For LA, the only place I can think of is Federal Apartments.  They are an older community but they have some cute floor plans and will take large dogs.   You can also try private rentals on craigslist.  Dogs in CA will limit your options but it is doable! Most places do charge a pet deposit and monthly pet rent, so be prepared for that. Hope this information is helpful!  Happy Holidays!

Sarah
