Cities in North Carolina

Posted by jkluc on Dec 4, 2011 11:50 pm

I am looking to travel in North Carolina, but do not know anything about cities there.  Does anyone know about the following cities or at least if there are any cities on the list where you wouldn't work? The cities are: Rocky Mount, Scotland Neck, Roanoke Rapids, Ahoskie, Waynesville, Hamlet, Plymouth, Dunn, Fayetteville, Lenoir, Edenton, Lumberton, Gastonia, Wallace, Rich Square, and Goldsboro

I am an OTR just finishing a hospital based Kansas assisgnment.  I am also looking for a North Carolina position near Raleigh/Durham hopefully.  I love my current company and recruiter and have already started the process for my NC license.  I have a few concerns whether they can get me near R/D.  So far the closest is 48 miles and not my desired setting.  Any ideas?

I am a PTA looking for an assignment in NC after the holidays. I would appreciate the advice on cities and companies as well. I would love to be in Asheville area but I know that is unrealistic.

Have you tried looking at the websites of the places you would like to work to see if there are any openings advertised?  If so, that is a good place to start, then you just call HR, the department head, even straight to the OT department....we OT's tend to be friendly and helpful, I have gotten job offers in this way.  I have both handed off to a recruiter and made my own contract.
Off topic, do you need to go there now?  Maybe the perfect position waiting for you someplace else!

Jkluc:  Our account manager, Matt, for that area said he would be willing to tell you about those areas if you want to know more.  You can give him a shout at 402-891-1118 x6492.  Hope that helps.

Asheville, NC will be VERY hard to find an assignment.  But nothing is impossible.  I tried several years ago and the closest that I got was Asheboro (similar name but very different town.)  It's is usually hard to find travel assignments in such popular areas.  It's like trying to find an assignment in Vail, CO in the winter or Key West in the summer, etc.  Good recruiters can help give you the odds on finding an opening.

I was lucky to have been given the opportunity to work in the Asheville, NC area on a travel assignment.  I have been looking for a permanent job for four months.  This area is overloaded with PTAs.  It is a very difficult area to find travel assignments or permanent jobs.  I have four PRN jobs and  it is not enough hours for full-time.  It is a beautiful area and no one wants to leave.  I definately would not recommend this area for employment.  I have witnessed employees punching out  and working for free to keep their job.  Hope this helps.
