hello

i am looking for suggestion where to go next.  I am waiting on my california license and looking forward to getting off the east coast and expanding my travel experience by heading out west.  I presently have a compact license and travel with my 2 dogs  Sophie the golden and Gracie the lab.  thanks in advance for helping.

Hello there,

I was in Az for a year.  I would highly recommend it.  Beautiful, especially around Flagstaff area.  Phoenix was a little too hectic for me but it still was a great experience.   Phoenix was only 300+ miles from Palm Springs, Ca.  We used to go to California on long weekends sometimes.  Az is a great jumping off point to see more of the surrounding areas.

I tried to get a position in California both before and after AZ but since I wanted southern Cal there wasn't anything available with my companies.  I'm sure there is with others but I didn't want to try a new company at the time.

I am now home in Maine.  Plan on going traveling again next year,  probably back out west.  It is gorgeous!  Good Luck with your travels!

Oh hi Caroline...fancy meeting you here, small world isn't it? lol!!
I have been traveling 3 years, been in Maine since July. Getting a bit nippy up here brrrrrr!!! I am going back to Florida right after Christmas, have 2 offers as of today, waiting to hear from a few other facilities but I will accept one by early this week as they fill up fast! I want to go back out west in the spring, waiting on my Cali license (they are extremely picky in the application process, have had to send more documents and even had to get my fingerprints redone this week because the first ones weren't good enough)  Good Lord!!!  Maybe I will actually have the license by spring huh?
Caroline we should try to meet up if we're both out in the Wild West at the same time!!
Have to go get some Mt Dew now...talk to you later darlin"  wink

Hey. I've been traveling for over a year & a half now. I've been in California since July. It took me about 5-6 months to get my CA license. I highly recommend the desert; we loved the palm Springs/Joshua Tree area. I'm in Central California now, but do not recommend it so far. That may change once we're able to go see the giant Sequoias.

Definitely plan ahead to get a California license if that is what you want. Mine took almost exactly 6 weeks. I spent 13 weeks in Ventura--which is a beach town an hour north of LA. I loved the area and the weather was perfect (Aug-early Nov), but the hospital I was at was too small for me. I just moved up to the Bay Area last week to work at Kaiser Oakland and I'm living in Berkeley. So far, northern California is absolutely beautiful with so much to do!

We spent 6 months in Palm Springs this past year.  It's fabulous!  This is a great time of year to go there too.  They are crazy busy and have lots of traveler positions open.  I was at Eisenhower.  Fantastic facility, but they do require PBDS.  I also did an assignment in San Jose.......if I ever go back there it will be to soon!

Good luck!!

Let us know if you come to the Bay Area.  We are in Walnut Creek.  Let's have a happy hour when you get here!
