Community Guidelines

General stuff you need to know

These guidelines are designed to ensure the Healthcare Travelbook experience is an enjoyable, beneficial, and productive one for all our users. They boil down to common sense, basic courtesy, respect. The community is not to used as a blatant advertising or spamming platform.

When we say “we”, we mean Healthcare Travelbook. When we say “community” we mean www.healthcaretravelbook.com.

We may update these guidelines and recommend you check back once in a while. We'll also continue to introduce new community features which will fall under these guidelines.

IMPORTANT THINGS TO REMEMBER

  • You are responsible for your interactions with other members. We reserve the right, but have no obligation, to monitor disputes between you and other members.
  • These guidelines apply to all content you contribute as part of the community, including your profile.
  • Member content on www.healthcaretravelbook.com reflects the opinions and experience of those members, not Healthcare Travelbook.
  • Certain groups or authors within www.healthcaretravelbook.com may have their own guidelines posted. Please read these carefully and respect them.
How you talk to others in an online network is not that different from the way you would talk to others in real life. But there are some things you should be mindful of in an online environment:

Community Dos and Don'ts

DO:

  • Be sincere in your contributions. Post with purpose - to inspire, enable, contribute or share with fellow travelers.
  • Respect that other people have different points of view, styles, and experiences. Don’t take things too personally.
  • Welcome newcomers. Reach out to them and introduce yourself just as you would at a cookout or party. We love it when another person joins the community and participates!
  • Give feedback to your fellow members, and us, in a helpful and constructive manner.
  • Lead by example by adding positive content that shares your opinion and experience, especially content that you think will be helpful to other members.
  • Report problems by using the report abuse or flag function to alert us to problem content or members.
  • Keep it legal Don’t get yourself into trouble by defaming others, posting porn, plotting illegal activities, or posting other people’s private information. Don't upload a picture that you wouldn't show your children — that means no pictures of nudity, or sexual content, violence, weapons, etc.
  • Use Common Sense and balance when seeking advice. Make your own inquiries, especially around subjects like health, safety, and legal matters.
  • Be safe and smart when sharing personal information and meeting other members.  We’d hate to hear of anything bad happening when people meet up, but we can’t be responsible for the actions of each person in the community.

DON'T:

  • Create content of a discriminatory or derogatory nature. Rich debate is wonderful, and you can do it without being offensive, humiliating or intimidating based on:
    • race, color, ethnicity, nationality or physical characteristics
    • gender or sexual orientation
    • religion or non-religious viewpoints (i.e. secular humanism, atheism)
    • political opinion
    • socio-economic status
    • age
    • physical, mental or intellectual disability/impairment
    • the ways people express themselves (people come from different cultures)
  • Create content which would be reasonably classified as exclusively 'adult' and restricted accordingly (such as pornography or graphic violence).
  • Defame, harass, flame or hold grudges. You’ll participate better without a chip on your shoulder.
  • Upload copyrighted or illegal materials that don’t belong to you
  • Post personal details or private information about any other person (or anything contrary to our Privacy Policy)
  • Impersonate another person, including any Healthcare Travelbook staff or authors.
  • Advertise commercial products or services. We don’t mind if you include links to your personal blogs or websites in your profiles.  However, when doing so, please make those links open up in a new window (i.e., insert the [target=”_blank”] tag into your html links. But commercial solicitation, or contributions solely designed to plug your company or services, are not acceptable. No selling, solicitation, advertisement, or promotion of products or services is permitted on Healthcare Travelbook.  This is a place to engage with other members in a positive way, not sell your services or stuff.  If you think you spot someone breaking the rules, use the report abuse or flag function.
  • Be - or - feed a Troll. Trolls post messages or content deliberately designed to get the blood boiling. Replying to or arguing with a Troll is feeding. The best pest-control is to ignore, and use the report abuse or flag function to alert us to them.
  • Use excessively coarse language. Humans swear. But go easy on the sailor speak or we will have to tone you down. Remember, even if it’s not offensive to you, it might be to other people.
  • Discuss how to commit illegal activity (like buying drugs, avoiding visa restrictions, ticket scalping). It’s OK to talk about the existence of these things, but don’t advise how and where to do them.
  • Be a know-it-all. Show off your insights, not your attitude.
  • Don't hide behind handles. We respect the right of members to be anonymous, which leads people to say things they wouldn't say face to face. Don't be one of those people. If you're tempted, remember, website administrators can see who you are even if other members cannot.

Reviews:

Members - We provide a rating and review platform so individual members can share their genuine opinions and experiences. We do not permit businesses to create fake reviews and will not allow them to contact individual members directly to rebut. For fellow members to get maximum benefit, remember to make your review constructive and balanced.

Businesses - Individual members might review you on our website. We ask that you embrace the good with the bad, as not everyone will have the experience you hoped for.

If you think a review genuinely constitutes defamation, please use our "report abuse" function and it will be brought to the attention of our moderation team.

Blogs:

Update- Blogging is temporarily shut down with the new update, but will resume on a new platform. 6/4/13. Blogging on Healthcare Travelbook is a valuable form of communication with industry specific stories and information.  However, blogging is only open to travelers, students, and general members of the community.  We restrict blogging by recruiters. If you are a recruiter or affiliated with a staffing company and would like to contribute to the community through a blog, please contact the Healthcare Travelbook Administrator for approval and access to the blogging feature. We restrict blogging in order to provide the traveling community a high level of visibility and transparency of the content posted on Healthcare Travelbook by recruiters participating on this site.

Recruiters:

You are welcome and encouraged to join and participate in this site.  However, you must create a personal presence on the site by uploading your own photo and creating a personal profile.

This is intended to be a community, not a website strictly for your marketing purposes.  If you would like to be involved on a corporate level, please contact the Healthcare Travelbook Administrator for information on being included in the Agency Directory. Your company may already be listed, so please take a look. After you have made a personal recruiter profile, you may start a company blog in the Blogs section. This can be titled the name of your company. Please see section Blogs in community guidelines for rules.

In addition, introductions can be made to the community in the "Introduce Yourself" category in the forums.  This is the only place on the site where you are free to talk about your services however, you may only post one introduction per recruiter.

IMPORTANT REMINDERS FOR RECRUITERS:

Blatant self promotion or frequent messages to healthcare professionals will not only prove ineffective, but will also annoy most members and decrease your audience.  Please behave as you would at a professional conference or networking event.  Use your time on Healthcare Travelbook to create credibility for yourself and establish relationships.

Advertising:

Again, commercial solicitation, or contributions solely designed to plug your company or services, are not acceptable. No selling, solicitation, advertisement, or promotion of products or services is permitted on Healthcare Travelbook.  Using your company logo for your profile photo is not allowed. This is a place to engage with other members in a positive way, not sell your services.

Blogs:

Blogging is open to travelers, students, recruiters and general members of the community. Please contact the Healthcare Travelbook Administrator to submit your blog and have it approved. Update- Blogging is temporarily shut down with the new update, but will resume on a new platform. 6/4/13.

Blogging by recruiters is not to be used soley to promote yourself, your services, or your company.  Our advertising restrictions apply to blogging as well.  Blogging is a way to reach out to the community and provide useful information to all members, not recruit them.

With that said, we don’t mind if you include links to your personal websites in your profiles and blogs.  However, when doing so, please make those links open up in a new window (i.e., insert the [target=”_blank”] tag into your html links). This can be done in the tool bar area when creating a blog.

Also, please limit your blog posts to 3 blog posts per week.

Photos and Videos:

All photos must be personal photos and may NOT be of your company’s logo or generated by your company for promotion purposes. Using your company logo for your profile photo is not allowed.

Promotional videos or videos of your company’s commercials are strictly prohibited.  However, videos that would be helpful or entertaining to the community (without including advertisements) are allowed.

Forums:

Recruiters are welcome to participate in the forums as long as it does not include any form of advertising or promotion of your services or company.  Posting to a discussion thread should be for informational purposes only.  Posting of jobs by recruiters is strictly prohibited in the forums.

The “Jobs” category in the Forums is for posting by travelers only!  This category is for travelers to share information on jobs that have with other travelers.  Recruiters do not have access to this category.

The “Introduce Yourself” category is a great place for recruiters to talk about themselves and their recruiting services. You may "Introduce Yourself" to the community using this category in the forums, however you may only introduce yourself once.  However, blatant advertising by recruiters is not allowed.  For example, do not say: "For a great travel job, contact me at 123-456-7899".  Do say: "I have been providing recruiting services with ABC Company for 10 years and find it very rewarding".

Jobs:

We understand that recruiters have jobs that they want to fill and share with the community.  The best way to share your jobs is through a status update on your MyHome page.

Introducing Yourself:

The "Introduce Yourself" category in the Forums was created for members to introduce themselves to the community.  This is the place for all members to talk about who they are, what they do, and their background and interests.

Only one introduction is allowed per member. All members may reply to other members' introductions and edit their own introduction as many times as they like.

Blatant advertising is not allowed and is controlled on the site for recruiters...however, this is the place where recruiters can talk about themselves and about their recruiting services.

Reporting Abuse:

All over our website you’ll see red ‘Flag’ buttons that let you notify us of any content that breaches the rules. This helps you look after the community too.
