Social media sites - such as Healthcare Travelbook, Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn - are among the fastest growing sites on the Intranet, and are quickly becoming an important tool in a candidate's job search. 

Travel staffing companies, including Clinical One, use the sites to post new job openings, feature new locations or hot destinations, provide interviewing tips and licensing information, and offer other resources that can help you find (and land) that dream job. Hospital facilities are also jumping on the social media craze, investing resources in order to help educate potential employees about the facility, including specialty areas of focus, accolades and awards, new research and procedures being performed, work environment, and more.

If you travel for a living, you know that a lot of planning and preparing goes into making sure you have a successful assignment.  When you throw a pet (or two) into the mix, there's a lot more to think about...but a lot more fun as well!  Here are nine quick tips for hitting the road with your pet:

1.  Pack their health docs.  Chances are you've just filled out and turned in documents for yourself...but don't forget your pet! It's a good idea to pack your pet's medical records, vaccination records, and any other pertinent info just in case you need to see a vet while you're away from home.  Also, it's a good idea to have a current picture of your pet with you in case they happen to slip away from you.

Starting your career as a travel nurse takes a lot of preparation, and unfortunately it doesn’t stop with what to pack.  You find yourself making a list of questions to prepare yourself for the journey ahead. What happens if you are out on the road, and you get stuck in a snow storm and can’t make it to your contract in time for your start date? Or what if you start your assignment and the staff is less than friendly and the hospital is in disarray?  And what would you do if you were commended by one of your colleagues for a job well-done…would you want to share your experiences and praise with another person?

That someone should be your Recruiter! One of the top reasons that a nurse stays with a travel company is because of the relationship with their recruiter.  So, how do you get there? How do you build the best relationship with your nurse recruiter?

How do you choose the right travel company to work with?  This is a tricky question that many travelers have a hard time with, but the key is doing your research! There are a ton of travel companies out there that offer many of the same benefits, but when you really break it down and compare apples to apples…..companies can be very different!

With Halloween fast approaching, I thought it would be fun to compile a list of the spookiest travel destinations. So after a lot of research and watching of “Ghost Hunters,” here is my top 5 list…and while I have not visited most of these places, next year I may plan a special Halloween vacation around a visit to one of these haunted houses!

With summer quickly coming to an end, now is a great time to start thinking about where you'd like to spend the cooler Fall months.
